The District of Oak Bay is excited to launch the Oak Bay Coolkit program. The Oak Bay Coolkit program is a joint initiative between the Collaborative for Advanced Landscape Planning at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Faculty of Forestry and the District, and is designed to engage residents on climate-change solutions in the community. 

Celebrate Camas Day on Sunday May 1, from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the entrance to Cattle Point on Beach Drive.

There will be guided wildflower walks and activities for all ages. Live music, food and drink with prizes to be won!

Throughout the Pandemic, Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture have followed the guidelines and recommendations of the Province, Island Health and other industry specific authorities in order to develop and implement safety plans for patrons and employees.

(Wednesday, June 30, 2021) With the announcement of the Province’s transition to Step 3 of the B.C. Restart Plan, Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture is working towards welcoming all of our patrons back to our facilities to participate in your favourite activities and programs. We are working on the return of drop-in style participation through our annual and other passes by July 15, 2021. Between now and July 15th we will be working to have our full staff complement back at work, re-trained and ready to welcome you back.

Concert of Remembrance (Tuesday, October 26, 2021)

Filled with music and story, this moving tribute resounds with first hand accounts, poetry, and song from World War I to Current Conflicts.

The fitness studios (gyms) at Oak Bay Recreation Centre and Henderson Recreation Centre will return to drop-in on Thursday, February 17, 2022. Capacity will be back to normal. Participants will be expected to continue to wear masks when not actively exercising. Proof of vaccination will be required. 

All registered drop-in and registered fitness classes at Oak Bay facilities, will to continue with their regular schedule with increased number of participants. Registration for drop-in will no longer be required.
