Following yesterday’s announcement from the British Columbia Provincial Health Officer (PHO), the Village of Salmo will no longer require masks to be worn by members of the public in the Village office effective today, Friday, March 11, 2022. The PHO based this decision on B.C.’s lowered hospitalization and transmission rates. However, it is still the responsibility of the Village staff to determine what is appropriate to ensure the health and safety of our staff.

We ask that the public please respect the fact that staff, due to their own personal choice, may be wearing masks even if members of the public are not required to do so . We also respect that some members of the public may continue to wear their masks due to their personal choice.

“The Village greatly appreciates the commitment our residents and businesses have shown over the last two years to ensuring the health and safety, not only of our employees, but the community at large, since public health mandates were originally implemented,” said Mayor Diana Lockwood. “We are looking forward to seeing more smiling faces at all our facilities, while recognizing that some people will continue to feel more comfortable wearing masks.”
