Tofino Newsletter: Opportunity Director Position Until Apr 14, 2022

The Director of Infrastructure and Public Works is a member of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer. As Director you will be responsible for existing and future infrastructure, capital projects, public utilities and field operations for the District. This position will oversee the Public Works Superintendent and the Infrastructure & Assets Manager. Specifics include, determining departmental priorities, ensuring operational requirements are met, stakeholder engagement, and preparation of annual budgets. As part of your portfolio, you will work effectively with District employees, consultants, contractors, government officials and the public.

Ideally you are a PEng or a CET with 8 to 10 years in a senior leadership role experienced in water, sewer, roads, parks, infrastructure design, construction, operations, and maintenance within a municipal or consulting firm setting. Experienced at working with external consultants, you are a big picture leader, practical problem solver, deal effectively with competing priorities and are highly respected for your ability to work well under pressure. You are known for your ability to execute and deliver results. You have experience managing diverse teams in a unionized environment and well respected for your professionalism, commitment, and passion in your leadership role. You hold your staff accountable, yet you are realistic. Your impeccable people skills are your trademark, and you deal effectively with all levels of internal and external clients and staff.
